ABSTRACTED AMERICANA AND THE JOY OF ARTMAKING

ABSTRACTED AMERICANA AND THE JOY OF ARTMAKING

We live in Montana-new to the area around the Flathead valley. We love the hometown feels we get here and the tremendous sense of community. While I continue to work in my temporary studio space while awaiting my art studio’s interior to be outfit-I’m still making art. Currently, the series in work is warm and inviting with purples, lavender, earthy yellows and earthy reds. It’s a limited palette. Working in a limited palette is a fabulous learning tool and great practice for working on larger abstracts. So, the little mini series that feels like our local Americana is comprised of 10 -10x10x 2 oil and cold wax on wood panel. The first tour of this series is destined for a college town in Nampa ID as a group show with some lovely artist who make quite different work that I make. Sara Horowitz and Jammie Tucker. I met these ladies in Leavenworth Washington on an artist sabbatical a couple of years ago. This should be great fun! Making and sharing art ought to be fun. Do you see the joy and fun in a piece of art? I can tell when it was laborious for the artist or if it brought them joy. Cheers!
